The litter pick will form part of a day of environmental works at Belgrave Lakes, which will also see council Street Scene staff clearing rubbish from the lake using grappling hooks and ropes.
Bushes around the site have already been cut back, while Community Payback teams will be carrying out minor pruning works on the day. Street wardens, PCSOs, Fire and Rescue Service will also be taking part.
The tidy-up day and litter pick is part of a series of ongoing works to improve the wildlife habitat in and around the lake and make it an even more attractive environment.
A call has now gone out to volunteers of all ages to go along between 10am and 2pm on Saturday and join in the litter pick.
One of the aims of the day is not only to clean up the lake but also to get the community involved and set up a Friends group to look after the Belgrave Lakes site and help to keep it tidy.
Anyone who would like to go along to take part in the litter pick or volunteer to get involved in a Friends group is asked to meet at the Belgrave Studio of Dance in Bird’s Bush Road at 10am for a safety run-though. The litter pick will run until 2pm.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Anyone taking part is asked to wear suitable clothing. Litter picking equipment will be provided for volunteers.
